"Fractured Squares" top
Number one (!) in a new 2.5" strips series.
I would like a better name for this one, so if you have any suggestions, I'd like to hear it.
It is like a Bento Box, but I didn't make it at all the same way I made a previous Bento Box pattern I made.
It kind of messes with your eyes and that's what it is supposed to do! I am pleased with that effect. I was actually hoping for that effect!
It's made from quarter log cabin blocks. Not very hard, really. I used quite a few of my 2.5" strips - from my multiple bags of already cut up strips. I've made so many from 2" strips, that 2.5" strips seemed mammoth by comparison. It is amazing the difference that half inch makes!
When I decided to make this out of 2.5" strips instead of 2" or 1.5", I went to my bags and dumped them out and searched through and found white and bright strips. I had no problem finding enough for this top. (Don't worry, I've put them back by now!)
Someone has requested that I make some things with 2.5" strips/scraps. Since I do have 4+ bags of them, her request did hit home with me. I do use a lot of these strips for binding, but I have too many, once again....so the request hit home...I need to use these up.
There are many, many patterns using 2.5" strips - often with Jelly Rolls or 2.5" coordinated precuts. Mine are mostly just scraps - and therein will lie the difference. I have so many, however, I can often find coordinating colors, no problem.
For this one, I searched for longer BRIGHT strips and whites - white on white, plain white or slightly off white.
The pattern is here.
My sis has been diligently working on putting fabrics this past week on the site. If you haven't checked it out lately, you should.
You just might find something you just can't live without! You never know what goodies you will find.
