Cultural: Just for Fun - Oreos
You can't really imagine my delight when I first saw Oreo cookies for sale here. It was just like a "Taste of Home" - albeit store bought - but one of my absolute favorite non homemade cookies!
Then, recently I noticed Double Stuffs! Wow! Amazing!
They come individually packaged - the regular Oreos have 4 packets of 4 cookies to a box, and the Doubles have 6 packets of 2 to a box.
Do they do this in the states now? It seems kind of expensive packaging, but I guess they don't trust you to eat just a couple at a time otherwise. This way it at least registers as you tear open another packet for more cookies.
And how much do these delicious morsels of chemicals cost? Well, I bought them at two different stores, but here are the receipts. The "regular Oreos" I bought at Biedronka, a deep discount store, and paid 4,49 zl - or $1.13 per box
I bought the Double Stuffs at a store that doesn't claim to be a deep discount store and paid 5,49 zl or $1.38 per box.
I know that some of you roll your eyes and think, "You don't need that stuff - why even eat it?"
Others of you think, "That's cool!"
Until you've lived as an EXPAT - someone who doesn't actually live in his/her native country-- you can't begin to know how it feels to find something that you like from "home" that that you can buy!
And now you know...this tiny bit of relatively unimportant "cultural" information!
Have a great day!
