Reusable grocery bag!

Ever since I saw Shabby Fabric's tutorial on making a reusable grocery bag, I've wanted to try it. Then, as we get ready to go to the states, I have a reason to make one - I wanted one to use as a hostess gift.  I'd love to have several, in fact. I think they'd be popular.

My reusable grocery bag made out of one of the Polish folk prints

So, I pulled out some of the beautiful black floral fabric that I have and made this bag.

It took less than 1 meter of fabric - and the video shows you how to do it.

It was quick and easy if you have sewn before - esp. if you already know how to do French seams and a basic lining.

I'll head to our local notions store and see if i can find some black elastic. I think that would look nice - or possible a contrasting "fun" color such as red or hot pink. I have no idea if elastic comes in these colors! I'll see.

You can follow Jennifer's instructions and find the PDF and print it out to make the pattern you need for the bag.

If you have been wanting to make a reusable grocery bag, one of these, I'd recommend this tutorial for a couple of reasons - first of all, Shabby Fabrics is giving the pattern - unlike so many who use their you tube channel to pull you over and get you to buy their pattern or book or whatever - this is a totally free pattern. Secondly, this one has all finished seams on the inside PLUS the elastic is a fun addition to the bag.

Be sure to check it out!

And be sure to check out what my sis has for you over in the store if you need something today to help with your sewing!  This pattern would be super cute in some novelty prints!

We have to pay for bags at most stores so I actually keep several reusable bags in my purse at any given moment.
