Cultural: Hope Singers concert
Last Friday night, August 3, we went to a concert about 40 minutes from our town. We picked up a few people - I went one direction with one vehicle and my husband went another, and we met here at the house and then headed out.
Our missionary friends in a nearby town who are Mennonites have a group they call the Hope Singers come to Poland every two years. They learn several Christian songs in Polish and some in English and then have concerts all over Poland arranged by our missionary friends.
I think one of the amazing things about this group is that because they are from all over the USA and Australia, they only had 3 days here in Poland where everyone was together to practice! They are touring for almost 3 weeks, however. Unfortunately for them, they arrived right during our heat wave.
They are meeting in various public venues like this one - and some churches of varying stripes.
The whole concert was full of pretty serious music in a choral style - but this one was the encore - thought you might like it!
There was no air conditioning in the building, and in this case, it was full - maybe 300 people- so I got out as quickly as I could into the hot air outside. The 3rd of August was hot for us this year - but outside was better than inside!
They did a great job and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Afterwards we stood around and chatted with some of the people who were there.
And that's what's been happening around here! I trust you have a wonderful day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you over in the store!
