While I was in Spartanburg, SC, staying with my older daughter for my second daughter’s graduation, I went to one of our suppliers of fabric - Foust Textiles in King’s Mountain, NC.

They only allow re-sellers, so if you are a regular quilter, you will need to find a buddy who has a resale license before you could get inside.

The place is only about 45 minutes from my daughter’s house so I was able to be there by 9:30 am straight up I-85. I was excited to just walk in the door!

I had written them previously to see if I could meet with the person who handled our account (Quilted Twins). The president of the company, John, actually gave me the tour.

I think this is the case where the best explanation is a bunch of pictures.

While I saw the main area first, after a brief explanation, I headed to the back where the markdowns were.

These tables had all kinds of things on them. I mostly walked past them. They didn’t seem to be what we were looking for. We’ve discovered that “flat fold” is a lot of work for us and not the best deal for our situation as what you may get (savings) at the beginning, you use up in the end in time and labor. They seem to work better for the groups of quilters who want a good deal - not so much for businesses.

After looking through literally every bolt with a red sticker on it that appeared to be all cotton and deciding about each one individually, I went back to the front part and began walking through those aisles.

The back area is where I can get the bulk of the fabrics for us. However, I did check out the fabrics that weren’t “on sale”, knowing if we have to pay the regular retail, naturally, we have to ask more. So, most of that went into our specialty fabrics room ($9.99/yard) instead of the normal $4.99/yard we normally charge.

I had our rental vehicle with us and this limited me somewhat as to what I had in mind to buy. I knew that I couldn’t overfill the SUV. However, there was a fair bit of space, so I felt pretty good about what I bought. I was guessing, actually as I was putting things into a grocery cart.

They also sold notions, though I didn’t spend much time wandering around this section. They even had batting, but due to limited space, that was not an option for me to buy.

While the warehouse was large, it wasn’t so big that I couldn’t get through it in a timely manner.

I asked these people if I could take their picture. They are ringing up the order total. Behind them you can see where they pack up orders.

Here is the president of the company, John - his dad started it many years ago. The lady is the one who looks after our account. Both were wonderful to me.

One of the fabrics I found was this adorable “Church kitchen ladies”. I know, I had to pay retail for it, so we’re having to charge $9.99/yard for it, but it’s simply magnificent! And if you are active in a church and know about the ladies who work in the kitchen for dinners and such, they are so special!

I spent about 2-3 hours there and filled up the car. I probably could have bought a few more bolts, but I had found what I had wanted at the time. I did leave an order for some things that they didn’t have in stock at the moment.

A while later, I had organized it and cut some of the bolts of panels into individual panels - so it all looked like this:

I had a wonderful time! The people at Foust are very nice and are helping us get the fabrics we need, so we appreciate them tremendously!
