"Stringy Zigzag"
Yes I finished this one!
Whew! The straight line quilting on this one seemed to go on and on!
I worked on this one as part of my strings/crumbs series which I did over the course of several weekends.
And yes, this is one of those that I was surprised how much I liked it. I didn’t really expect to like it THAtT much. I was expecting a sort of “eh, ok”.
I straight line quilted the white part and then just did a meander in the colorful parts. The back shows it as well as any other place!
I debated using a variety of scraps for the binding - but black won out. I actually had several leftover strips from other projects stuffed in a 2.5” strips/binding pieces bag right beside my sewing machine. While still debating, I pulled out what looked like enough black for the binding and that clinched it. In the end, I think black binding is perfect.
Scrappy would have been fine, too, though.
And oh, so appropriate.
So now you know.
There isn’t really a pattern for this. Instead you can read how I did it. I simply made string blocks and then half square triangles from them. If you followed my weekend strings/crumbs updates, you saw this.
If not, you can go back and see what I did with this one here, here, here , here. and here. They will show you week by week progress and the final top.
Enjoy.
I trust you are having a great “last day pf 2018!”
I used to go to New Year’s Eve get togethers at church (never big wild parties) and/or youth get togethers, but no more. The New Year can come in with me in bed. I hated the feeling that I got when I stayed up half the night - sort of discombobulated and lazy the next day. Since I have choices at this point in my life as to what i do on this night, I prefer staying at home and being in bed when the fireworks go off.
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
