Houston Bound!
I am a member of a Facebook group called “Just Wanna Quilt”
A while ago we were featured on their podcast, so when the leader of our small, but might, quilting army asked for volunteers for making quilts to be put up in the booth at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, I said I would do it
I couldn’t really think of anything to make, though. Not really. It needed to be pretty quick and easy but original and different.
Not a small task.
I decided to make a simple QR code quilt with the logo of the Just Wanna Quilt group/website embedded in it with a message to people to listen to the podcasts and join our quilting army on Facebook.
And so I did.
It’s small - only about 43” square. It felt like about 1/4 of a quilt to me.
Here it is.
When making one of these quilts, the nerve racking part for me is making sure it scans the first time! Once it scans correctly, then I’m okay. All is fine!
If you happen to go to the International Quilt Festival in Houston this year, you should be able to see this hanging in the booth if you go by there. I’ve heard the place is huge, so chances are you won’t notice it! But maybe you can look for it among all the other goodies you are going to be searching for.
And in case you don’t have a QR reader on your phone, this is what it says:
Here I am sandwiching it. The whole quilt took me from Wed. afternoon to Friday afternoon to finish with normal things interrupting. I pieced it on Wed. and Thursday, sandwiched and quilted it on Friday and bound it on Saturday.
I usually wash my quilts after finishing but I didn’t wash this one. I did add a hanging sleeve to the back and put on a label.
And now you know!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
