Quilted Twins

"Mosaic in Reverse" finished

This is another in my 2” strips and strips series of quilts. In fact, this is number 80 in that series. If you want to take a few minutes and browse what I’ve done with it, just click on over there.

Here is the center of the quilt. I made the borders just ordinary - by using an inner white border to give a break from the quilt to the borders, a black border and then a nice wide border that seemed to go with the predominant colors of the center.

I did a lot of swirly things with my Janome 8900.

I’ve made this one two other times - but this is the first time when I went with the idea of “reversed” - instead of white I used black for the main lines and light for most of the rest of the quilt.

“Mosaic” - I used dark in the background and white as the lines. It was made row by row. The pattern is here.

In the end, even though I thought the scraps I used were dreadfully boring, the quilt turned out just fine. I mean they were awful! Just look at them. They were a lot of brownish things and some light blue. Lots of leftover charity quilt backings in here!

“Mosaic Variation” - made with blocks. Up close you can see that there are blocks here. The end “look” is the same, from a distance as the first one which is simply made in strips/rows. Pattern is here.

So, in the end, I am very happy with how it looks! While not particularly “pretty - I think I could do it again pretty by using a hot pink or maybe orange as the main line instead of black and tans and pastels in the background.

I may do that in fact.

The first one I simply called “Mosaic”. The second one I made with blocks and I called in “Mosaic Variation” . I have put both of those here in the post. Under each picture I am putting a link to that pattern should you be interested.

You can see up close that these fabrics aren’t particularly fascinating or inspiring all by themselves. But they work with this pattern!

We did have some wind today along with the sunshine at times.

And, as usual, I like to show the quilt roll.

Even though it is December here in Poland, it is not particularly cold at the moment. No frost today even! but later this week, probably once again, it will be below freezing at night.

I know it’s not a new pattern - but it is a newly finished top. I am happy to see the numbers of my “to be quilted” tops going down! Of course, I’m always ready to begin another top, but sometimes I need to just stop and do some quilting!

And that’s all for today!

I trust you have a great day wherever you are reading this!
