"The Twin thing" - "Pizza Hut" - Where you can have Delicious Pizza on both sides of the pond!
The next in our series “The Twin Thing” - were we attempt to do the same thing and compare experiences and costs in our respective places.
I entered the shop and placed my order exactly at 5:30. I was told it would take 20 minutes to get me my deep dish supreme pizza at the new local TAKE OUT ONLY Pizza Hut which had opened up in our Walmart plaza..
So, I sat down in a chair and decided to tackle the project I had brought with me. I was assessing the open store sales, and what people were buying!
A short 13 minutes later, before I was done assessing the day’s sales, a man walked out and asked if I had ordered a Supreme pan pizza. I was shocked. Normally 20 minutes is 20 minutes, not 13 minutes!
He opened it, showed it to me, and I gladly gathered my belongings, took the pizza in my two trusty paws and headed to the van.
I drove back to the Fabric Store so that I could get my pictures, enjoy my pizza in peace, and also have the leftovers in the fridge over there for future consumption, on a late stay (which is just about every night)
I opted NOT to buy the 20 oz., $1.99 bottled Pepsi, as that just seemed too steep for me. I knew that for $.29, I had been able to purchase my Diet Mt. Dew, and though it was only 12 oz., that would still only be $.58 for 24 oz., about 1/3 of what I’d be paying for fewer ounces, for a beverage I much preferred.
Since Becky and I were attempting to compare apples to apples, though since we are in different cultures, this is difficult, I am still reticent to overspend, just to compare pricing. If our store would have had a fountain drink where you could get free refills, I would have purchased it, so that we could compare cup sizes and all, but the 20 oz. bottled drink that I refused had no ice, was sealed, and had no mystery to it for me. I didn’t need to own it to know what I would have had to pay and for what size.
My pizza measured 12.5 inches through the middle. This was considered a large supreme pan pizza. For me, this is my ultimate favorite pizza.
However, it has been at least 2 years since I’ve eaten any Pizza Hut pizza, and I must say that Papa John’s has come pretty close to usurping the lead that formerly Pizza Hut Supreme Pizzas had held with no close competition.
On a scale of 1-5, however, I still ranked it a 5. It was delicious. The deep dish part was simply scrumptious and melted in my mouth. The outer crust had a crunch that would make the judges sing on the Great British Baking show, as there they always seem to want crisp and crunch, while the middle part was deliciously soft and bread-like.
My supreme pizza had: sausage, beef, onions, pepperoni, green bell peppers and mushrooms on the crust covered in a red marina sauce. (I mention that because in Italy, not all pizzas have a red sauce on them automatically).
When I ordered it, the clerk found a coupon unbeknownst to me, which took it down from over $18 to $14.96, and gave me extra cheese to boot. I was happy to save money and get extra cheese, but not sure if that would mess up our comparison. But hey, if you can pay less and get more, I’m all for it!
$15 for one pizza is still no steal. I didn’t have any kind of points plan in place, as we’d been enjoying half price Papa John’s pizza ever since the Tampa Bay Rays have been doing so well, to give me my pizza fix. However, the crunchy, thick, but still a bit doughy crust, reminded me of why I love the PH pan pizza so much. I might think about getting outfitted in a points program with them again!
All in all, it was a great, and fast meal! I loved it. It was different, and I’ll surely do it again

I feel like I had an advantage, at least price wise, because we chose to go to Pizza Hut on a Tuesday when we went shopping for my husband’s shoes. We went to a mall that is about 50 minutes from our house because they have a big selection of shoes AND a Pizza Hut.
The Pizza Hut we went to is in the food court of the mall - not a free standing restaurant.
On Tuesdays you can get any large pizza for 24,99 zl - or $6.47! Their large might not be as large as your USA large, but it easily feeds two adults who are only eating pizza.
We ordered 2 of them - one to eat and one to take home.
We also got the drink, which is a refillable cup which you get from your average dispenser. The cup was small, however - it held 1/3 of a liter - which is a little better than going to a sit down restaurant where you usually get exactly 1 cup of drink for about $2. At least here we could refill.
However, unfortunately for us, today the drink machine wasn’t working right and the Pepsi Max (sugar free) was warm and flat. It was awful. I gave it a 1/5 with 1 being the worst. The lady who worked at the kiosk gave us a can that was nice and cold and fizzy, but she refused to give us any more when we asked for another one - even though the drink is “refillable” - for which you pay about $1.10. She said that we had to drink the warm stuff (and flat - it was straight syrup - awful!)
I am particularly disappointed in this experience because when it happened at our local KFC which is also run by the same company, they gave us 3 cans each to drink. I guess they know us there. I think she should have either volunteered to get us more drink at the restaurant nearby or given us more cans. It doesn’t cost them that much.
Anyway, the pizza was delicious. It took 20 minutes to get to us - they guarantee 15 minutes. However, we didn’t press the issue. Actually they usually beat the 15 minutes - today was slower than normal.
Our super supreme pizza had black olives, ham, onion, pepperoni, green pepper, mushrooms and I’m not sure what else. It was good. Basically everything you could want on a pizza except pineapple.
They have a regular sit down restaurant near the food court where they actually bring the pizza from. But the sit down restaurant is more expensive than simply eating at the food court so we don’t eat there.
The pizza was a 5/5. It was a Super Supreme. And while Pizza Hut doesn’t put a LOT of things on their pizza, they do pizza right!
To my husband and I it is the best that exists. We did not order extra cheese. Tuesdays is their promo day - that’s why we go on Tuesdays if we need to go to the mall! I think it’s about half price as to their normal price.
I suppose it’s not really fair to compare our sale price to my sis’s regular price, is it?
But there you go - her experience and my experience!
