Quilted Twins

Making a little sample for my sis

This really almost shouldn’t count as making a quilt, right?

Right!

But my sis came over to my mom’s and asked me to bind this little prequilted panel - so they could hang it up in the store.

The quilting is all cross hatching.

I’m still getting used to my Babylock Quilter’s Professional that I found last year on Craig’s List - so the binding didn’t go on as well as I thought it should. I just left it at my mom’s last year with the cover on. It was pretty quick to go out to the room where it was and whip off the fabric cover and set it up to start sewing.

The problem was some skipping with the walking foot on. I just need to take some time to check out the manual. I’m sure it’s user error since the machine sewed fine without the walking foot on.

This machine is very much like my Janome 1600P. QC - looks like they could have been manufactured in the same plant - however, between jet lag, feeling a bit of time pressure and being HOT - I’m still not feeling “perfectly adjusted” yet.

Anyway, I got it bound and then washed it, threw it in the dryer and gave it back to my sis so should could hang it on the wall.

Since ALL I did for this was bind it, I’m not going to count it as one of my finished quilts this year. I feel like that would definitely be “padding the numbers” a bit. LOL.

However, it turned out very cute. I think these little preprinted/prequilted panels would be perfect for those gifts you feel like you “need” to give but your heart isn’t into it.

Possibly you have coworkers at work, or your husband does, and you end up getting invited to a baby shower and they all know you sew.

You could get one of these, bind it and they would be none the wiser that you didn’t spend a long time on it. Of course your quilting friends would know, but we all know that most people hardly know anything about quilting/sewing!

And the end result is seriously cute!

My sis is offering a half yard of coordinating fabric as binding when you buy a panel - the color will be our choice.

If this is something you are interested in, my sis has a lot of different prints ranging from this little Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Bear to circus, to Noah’s Ark. Check them out here! They are $19.95 for the panel plus binding fabric. Such a deal! Check out which ones we have here -

And that’s it for today - my foray into binding a baby quilt. Sure is fast!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
