A day or two ago we visited a museum in Enid, OK where my daughter and her husband are stationed with the Air Force.

It was about the Cherokee Land Rush and is close by. It’s called the Cherokee Strip Region Heritage Center.

In this area of Oklahoma, apparently, there are a lot of quilters. We saw at least three quilt shops in either small towns or totally in the boonies!

In this museum we saw a few references to quilts. I took pictures. Let me show you.

The first showed a really old log cabin quilt- with quite small logs, I thought. Totally cool. Truly vintage!

The second showed a grass/sod house with a quilt in it. This quilt looked like it was probably made for the exhibit. You couldn’t really see what the quit looked like - at lest not like you would if you showed it up in its entirety.

The last reference I saw to quilting was a section where they talked about Enid’s community center and showed a lot of ladies who apparently were quilting.

I did also see a reference to a feed sack, and other references to sewing. Apparently lots of the pioneer women around here knew how to sew! And still do!

And there you go! We went through the whole museum, pushing buttons with our styluses as pointers and heard them discuss oil, cattle, town settlement, the rush for land and various other topics. I kept my eyes open wide to try to find things related to quilting and sewing! Just so I could share with you!
