I finished it.

This is the White Tiger panel quilt.

I did a simple all over stippling on it.

I know…the whole “secret” to this quilt panel is that one block. It looks like this - It’s an 8x8” finished block.

I first trimmed the panel to 28.5”x42.5”. Then, I added a border around it so it would be 32.5”x48.5”. That meant, I needed 6 (6 x 8” = 48”) of these blocks on the side and 4 (4x8” = 32”) along the top and bottom. I left the corners a nice 8” square. I liked the look it gave.

This block looks a little bit like a frog.

This ONE block is the secret here. The light is the same fabric as I used for the first border. Then I used a darker grunge and then black. I made the next border black. It kind of make sit appear as if there are 3 complicated borders. There aren’t. This is only ONE.

Let me show you some pictures I took as I made it. First of all, to get an overall picture of this block, think 4 strips - 2.5”x8.5”

I started by cutting the darker grunge at 2.5”x 8.5” - (for each block you need 2). I then “snowballed” the corners - one with a black 2.5” square and one with a lighter gray grunge (the same as the first border I just added) 2.5” squares. I sewed them in the direction as shown on the block.

Here are the photos that show what I did.

With those you have made two of the strips in the block - and now you will make the 2 strips that are a bit more complicated.

You start these strips by cutting a 2.5”x6.5” strip of darker grunge, a 2.5” black square and a light grunge - 2.5”x 4.5”.

Sew in this order as shown - Sew on crease. Feel free to trim out the extra fabric underneath the flipped fabric.

Now place each of the pieced strips to this block like this. Sew together, using a 1/4” seam to form a 8.5” square block. Keep checking the block diagram to get the direction in the correct placement!
