"Simple Squares" - Geometrics 3
Because I had cut the geometrics into 4.5”, 2.5”, 2” and 1.5” strips, I had to then work with what I had. I decided to use up some of it this way:
As you can see, I was struggling a bit with the wind. Unfortunately for me, I had procrastinated on taking pictures.
I like how the wind, however, makes it a “peek-a-boo” effect. I used various strips on the back creating a bit of interest when the wind whips like this. Of course as the mom would wrap up a child in it, the back would be visible as well.

I really want to give this one to my nephew who has a little girl (if they want it), so I used this sort of FL themed fabric on the back along with the geometric strips. I did that because I didn’t have quite enough of the pink flamingo fabric and by “stretching” it with the geometric strips, I had enough. LOL. And you just thought I was making a fancy backing, right? Too funny!
For the quilting, I just did simple straight line quilting. The only thing I did “different” about the straight line quilting is that I went on each side of the seam line - putting my presser foot on the edge and leaving the center of the blocks open. It creates a bit of a 3 D effect where the block is “puffy”.
I did put a double border on this one - a black inner border and then some of the geometrics on the final border.

While it hardly feels necessary to include a pattern, I thought, Well, why not? At least this way you can see the layout I used. It’s a pretty simple thing. I did decide on the size of this particular quilt based on the amount of pink fabric I had. I cut all I had into 4.5” squares and decided from that how big to make the quilt. I know, it’s not very scientific, but it’s what I did. Maybe I shouldn’t tell you such secrets. You may actually think I have a special “method” or “design” in mind. Sometimes it’s as simple as “How much fabric do I have?”.
