"Simple Framed Squares" - Geometrics 4
Well, I simply need one of my two sons here to do this quilt justice. It’s amazing.
The colors are so bold that I don’t know that a baby could properly sleep on it or under it. Who knows? I don’t know. Maybe they can. Maybe it makes no difference whatsoever to the child!
I really like it. It’s a change from the soft pastels of the first three, but these bold colors really make this one pop. The actual design is simple - as per the title.
The squares are cut 4.5”and I put a 1” frame around each one. Then I put a piece of black sashing between those blocks and then the outer borders were another round of hot pink and then some wild chevron stripes for binding. It zings! Yes…not just “sings” - it zings!
I’m glad I made myself do this little detour series. Up to this time, I’d been kind of afraid of using these prints in my quilts. Now I see that for certain places and things, they are wonderful! I love this border, for example. I would have liked it even better if I would have able to cut it without piecing. But I couldn’t. it’s okay. I’m pretty used to using what I have and seeing that perfection is overrated.
On the day of this picture taking, I didn’t get that many shots that pleased me and the one below has cars in it - usually I keep taking pictures until I get what I want without any cars or people in it. However, I didn’t have any. I guess we seemed to have a lot of traffic that day!
I did not piece the backing for this one. It is simply a piece of pink fabric that I had had. At some long time in the past I had bought a bolt of it (64 meters) to use as backings. This is the last of it.
As usual, the quilt roll:
The Geometrics page has been updated with the latest pictures and the pattern is on the free patterns page! Maybe someone can use it.
Any of you could make this one…yes you could! Quilts don’t have to be super intricate to be nice. Yes, they can be, but they don’t have to be.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
