Geometrics 15 - White and Black lap quilt
Why do we say “black and white” and not “white and black”? I’m calling this one white and black.
I really don’t know if anyone would actually want such a quilt. Ok, maybe a true black/white lover. Seriously!
But I made it. It was a sort of experiment and I think it is kind of cool. Just not for me. A mom sure wouldn’t want this for her baby, would she? Well, maybe if she had some house help who did laundry every day, she would. I see it more in a formal living room where no one actually sits. I’ve been in one - it was all white - white carpet, white sofas, etc. Or maybe, instead, an all black room - black rug, black couch/chairs, etc. I can see it there.
Well, what do you think? Is it at least “ok”? I think so.
The block is made up simply of 7 strips that are cut 2”x6.5”. Thus the block is 6”x10.5”. I used 4 of the geometrics and 3 whites as you can see.
While I think this quilt top is interesting, I do not really like it very much. It’s down there at about a 5/10 - maybe a 5.5/10 to my brain.
I don’t actually actively “dislike” it - just don’t “like it”. I hope you understand the difference.
I’ll find someone to give it to.
Thanks for reading along with me today. This one was super quick to put together. Less than an afternoon and it was designed, cut, sewed together and pressed, ready to go— probably even less than that if I had stayed off the computer!
I can see this idea as a good one for your scraps of something like Kaffe or beautiful batiks that you want to feature solely. Separate them with something like a black, white, brown, etc. and they would be all set and ready to feature!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
