Geometrics 6- Black, Red, and Gray with Center Emphasis

I am skipping number 5 for the time being, but here’s number 6. It went together rather quickly since the squares were a bit bigger than sometimes I do. And it was small! - well, “small” is relative, is it not? I actually laid it out on my computer and I didn’t like this pattern as well larger. It kind of took away from the emphasis or the “wow” factor when it was bigger.

This one ended up about 56.5” square.

I have to say that this one exceeded my expectations. I know that it appears that the edges are a bit wavy, so we’ll see what happens when I quilt it. There are a lot of bias edges here and while I tried not to stretch things, it appears that I did.

This is the one I put on at first - but I took the border back off and put on the darker one!

When I first did this, one I used a light border but I really disliked it intensely and took it back off and put on the black one. Here it is with white - before I took it off. It takes a lot for me to take a border back off. But once I put it on, I knew that the black was going to look a lot, lot better.

So I did.

Now here is a picture of the center before I added the borders: I even like it fine without any border at all. Binding in black would be a great baby size quilt.

To make this one all I did here was take those 4.5” squares and put a black 1.5” cut sashing strip between the two and then a 1.5” cut x 9.5” sashing strip between two sets of two squares to make a 9.5” square block. Then I added a 1.5” black strip around it all which then made an 11.5” square (11” finished in the quilt). I made those alternative blocks also at 11.5” (before being finished) The hardest part of this quilt undoubtedly was making those side setting triangles correctly! I had to have the pattern in front of me while I was cutting.

I hope you like it! I’m having a bit of fun with these small quilts! It’s stretching me a bit to work with these geometrics, but I’m learning and trying different things!

You can get this 10 pieces of half yards of super cool geometrics by Andover for only $30! It’d make several of these smallish quilts.

WAIT!

My sis has put together this super nice pack of geometrics that she got from Andover - It’s here. The pack looks like this:

And that’s all there was to it!

Here is the layout:

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
