Joan's Quilt!
My niece’s daughter is in love with purple. Last year when I was in FL, and we were all in the store - she was with her mom (Rachael’s daughter) and she brought me a panel and asked me to make her a quilt with it. Since she was quite young - 3 if I remember right, I was surprised that she actually “put it together” that I am the one who quilts and is the source of a couple of her other quilts.
Anyway, of course my heart melted. I had to make it for her. So I bought it back with me to Poland to work on.
So, she and her sis both want these unicorn panels. I’ve made hers first—her sis’s isn’t made yet.
I am glad to be getting some more of the quilts finished that I am obligated to make! (Even if the obligation is my own offer!)
For this quilt I won’t have a pattern as I used Donna Jordan’s video on how to make a quilt from a panel found here. Hers is called Brush Strokes and it is very good!
I didn’t turn the strips into the panel, though - I made them reversed direction.
I’d rather not have quite so much purple. But I have it on good authority that Joan will love it. She adores purple. In that case,
I am trusting that she will be happy with it!
Here’s some of the quilting: I went around the unicorns a bit and then called it enough in the center. The outer part was quilted differently.
I quilted it all over with hearts and loops. I figure she will notice that.
I almost didn’t try to take the pictures with the fog this morning, but thought I’d give it a try.
So there you are. I’ve put the quilt into the pile of things to go back to the states next time. It’s getting to be quite a pile already!
Here’s a close up of the quilting. I used hearts of two types and loops.:
And that’s it for today! I hope you’ve enjoyed this little visit to my niece’s new very PURPLE quilt!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
