Quilted Twins

Another box of goodies arrived!

My friend, Fran, who regularly sends me quilt tops to be made into charity quilts sent me a box back in December. Sometimes it comes as fast as a week or so. This one took almost a month, but I did finally get it.

We are pretty sure it was just sitting somewhere though.

I have to admit that since I already knew what was in it, I kind of let it sit in our living room and didn’t open it as soon as I got it.

Then just a couple of days ago, I had a few minutes when I was sitting there just waiting for my husband or some news or something and I saw it and decided to go ahead and open it - I was trying to clean up after Christmas and the decorations, and such.

I am very glad I did when I did. As I took the tops out of the box, I began to notice WET quilt tops.

It was very strange. Some of them were wet - very wet. Others weren’t. I think the box had been sitting in some water at some point. My husband thinks it happened here in Poland. It probably was sitting somewhere all during the Christmas break as the post office is notoriously slow about work during the Christmas break. (the Polish one - and don’t complain about the USPS - there is no comparison!)

All of the little ones and 2 of the large ones were wet. Some more than others.

Anyway, I thankfully I got them out of the box before anything started to smell or have mildew or anything. I can be glad it has been cold as I think wet and cold things don’t mildew like warm and wet.

So, lesson learned! Open my boxes quickly - even if I know what is going to be in it! I am very grateful everything was rescued!

These are the little ones and they were at the bottom of the box and had gotten wet - a few of them were actually soaked. I will eventually add borders to these to make them the 60”x80” quilt tops I need.

And I’m very grateful to Fran for making the tops for me and for sending them our way so I can finish them and pass them out to local people!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
