Found: Five Missing quilt tops!
This group of quilt tops were brought up from the basement along with the owl quilt that I finished a week or more ago now. I haven’t finished these up yet. I made these quite early in my quilting life. Well, not 10 years ago now, but maybe 7 or 8 years ago. I really don’t remember when. Maybe they are 10 years old.
I knew the yellow one was down there and that was it. I didn’t remember the other 4.
That’s bad, isn’t it?
Most of my quilt tops are actually either in my sewing room on the shelves or in my son’s old room or my daughter’s old room. Not in the basement. I do think that this is all I have down there.
My husband was cleaning out a certain area and found them and so he brought them up.
Of the five, I like four of them. The fifth one has issues.
Let me explain. I’ve made things I didn’t care for once finished. I’ve certainly made a lot of mistakes— both in colors, fabric choices and size. Usually when I didn’t really like something, I put it in with the charity quilts and they have always been chosen. Always. I usually learn something from the experience.
These are the other two Irish chains - the one with the scrappy red has a nice border on it. The one with the nature themed fabric has a nice nature border as well - just a regular one. I’ll show it later when I actually finish these up.
For whatever reason, this one I didn’t remember at all. Not at all. It’s as if it was gone from my memory. When I looked at the other ones, I remembered them. This one— I did not. I did make a different one with these colors, though - and I remembered that one. This must have been a very early quilt top of mine. Either that or it was unremarkable to me. Shrug. It was before I had EQ (Electric Quilt program)- that is for sure. Seeing it now, it just calls for darker “cornerstones” where those blocks come together. There are cornerstones, but tan ones. Oh well.
Back when I made this yellow one I made a red and a blue one just like it. In other words - three similar ones.
They are here: The block was called Sunny Lanes which I got off of Quilter’s Cache.com. That was my “go to” source for quilt blocks back then!
I finished these back in 2012. I did an all over quilting with the red one and stitched in the ditch with the blue.
So, you should see these before too long. I’ve been working on getting some of my older quilt tops that have been hanging around finished. Looking at them again - I really do want to finish them. Well, all except the one with the blue - but I’ll do it quickly so the pain will be over soon.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
