Our Summer Weather!

Not sure if the 50-60sF one week and 80sF the next week is actually crazy during the summer, but it does sometimes feel like it!

A few days ago my husband and I were outside, both wearing long sleeves! We commented that the high was going to be in the low to mid 60’s F. In July!

Yes…It was.

A few weeks before, it was in the mid 80’s F. The rest of the time it’s been in the low to mid 70s F. Which is great for me! The low 70sF still leaves it cool enough in my sewing room that I can sew or quilt! when it is really warm, I don’t want to be there. Last summer we bought a roll up blind in my sewing room so I have a lot more privacy and I can pull it down to keep some of the heat out in the hottest part of the day since my window faces the afternoon sun. It makes it so nice when I quilt because I can look outside.

Last summer it was hot pretty much all summer. This summer, not so much so far.

As I write this, it’s about 77F. A couple of days ago it was long sleeved weather!

The average summer temperatures in Warsaw are as follows -

  • June - 71.4F

  • July - 73.4F

  • August - 73.4F

  • September - 64.4F

You can see by these temps that when it is 80F, we aren’t used to it. My friends in SC and FL and OK just laugh when we “complain” about 80F.

Because of these temperatures, many homes do not have air conditioning - in fact, most do not have it. Also, I normally do not ever put away all my winter clothes. Last year was an anomaly as it was very hot all summer!

Because it’s been cool, I’ve been able to finish several quilts this summer - not just tops - but whole quilts! I’m very grateful for that! (There are a couple more that I’ve not shown here yet because I’ve not featured them yet.) I guess it’s not so very many, actually. It kind of “feels like” more than this!

It isn’t usually difficult to make tops - at least not as bad - because the fabric isn’t all over me while making them - at least not like a quilt is! My sewing room is where I do feel the heat when it is really hot!

So…this is just a short update to let you know…our weather has been pretty ideal! At least for quilting. The garden? Not so much. I’ll just leave it at that! Let’s just say there won’t be any records broken this year with that!

And that’s it.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

My advice to you?

Enjoy YOUR weather, whatever it is. If it’s hot—try to be thankful. If it’s cool—try to be thankful as well! It’s all God’s gift to us and grumbling doesn’t help us or anyone around us!
