Preparing for the 2020 Quilt Give-away
I decided it was time for our Give-Away! March 14 is the designated time for it. That’s Saturday - this coming Saturday!
have a couple of people who are going to help me. I am so happy about that.
We set up the quilts at the church on Sunday after church. The guys brought them all down from the room where I was storing them. We set one on each chair and the extras are in a couple of different rooms. Once someone takes a quilt, we will add a new one to that chair. That way the chairs will stay full.
On Monday (the day this is being published), I will take some of these coupons to the social services agency. I set up the coupons with the date for this year - it wasn’t too hard as I had already made the “coupon” in years past.
I do this so that I can control how many people will show up. I print out about the same number of coupons as I have quilts. That way I can be reasonably sure that we won’t have too many people come for quilts and run out. That would be awful!
I’m adding these photos on Monday - the day of the post.
I went to the social services building and put some coupons there. I also made up a little sort of poster and put some in front of our church building and I put a poster of them in front of our house. We have many people who walk by our house who live in a house housing development area down the road from us. I figure if at least one of them will see it and take one home, the word will spread and they will all get taken. I will go back on Wed. to the social services place and put some more out. Next time I’ll go early in the morning - today I went about noon Polish time.
I made up 2 sort of posters with these coupons on them and put one on the church’s gate and on our own fence.
This time, all of the quilts are singles - and I added the size to the coupon so people will not come looking for the large sizes. I just didn’t get any of the large ones finished for this time.
Here we are - set up. I will go back to the building on Friday and turn up the heat so it is warm in the building. Then Saturday about 9:30, I’ll go on over to the building with my camera and be ready to greet people.
The only requirement I have from people in order to get this quilt is that they allow me to take a picture of them with the quilt. If a social worker takes them, they will hold the quilts. I do that so I have a record of doing this should the government ask for more details or proof that we are actually doing this.
Sometimes - often - in fact, organizations get people to sign that they get stuff. Actually to me, signatures mean little to nothing. But the happy smiles are a lot.
Here is the building as it is set up.
Here are some of the extra quilts - they are ready to put on the emptied chairs as people take them.
I will certainly be curious how all the “browns” from the Big Fabric Haul” go. You can probably see at least a few of them in these pictures!
So, this is one of the things I have going on this week! Life for me, does involve more than quilting on my machine or the website, or the Facebook group. I have other responsibilities which may or may not be mentioned.
Have a great day wherever you are!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
