Quilted Twins

A bit of this and that

My flu has more or less morphed into a simple cold with some loose chest congestion. Still feeling a bit foggy-headed, though.

Just to show you how bad it is.

I had my blog posts planned for this week - ready to go on the next few Geometrics - getting ready to show them day by day - probably broken up by something else just to give me a break.

But…about halfway through the day today, I was finishing up a quilt I had started in January, and I looked outside the window - and noticed it was raining. Oh my. I had completely forgotten about taking my pictures for those quilts. I wasn’t going to do it in the rain.

When I looked outside at the sky, it pretty much looked like this rain was settling in for the day.

We had gotten a slip in our mailbox on Friday indicating that we had some “zagranica” mail - (international packages) - so I went about noon to the post office to pick up the envelopes.

I figured they were from my sis in FL who had sent me some goodies so I could make my nephew a quilt and a few more things for the newest Farm Bureau quilt I want to make in the next month or so.

They were, indeed, those packages. When I was standing in line at the post office, I had to choke back some coughs - was paranoid people might throw me out if they heard my cough. (Yes. Corona Virus panic has hit over here!)

I’m feeling “OK” - just not full of energy like I want to be!

Then I went to the store - saw a couple of people I know, and stopped by McD’s and came on home.

[My husband is in the Ukraine currently, so I’m on my own this week for meals. I’m not planning on cooking! I hadn’t realized this distaste for cooking was a malady that seems to affect many women who’ve been cooking for over 30 years - especially those of us who would rather sew - or a variety of other things, actually— than cook!]

A note - Yesterday, my husband went to the Ukraine by plane. He told me when they were disembarking, the passengers were met by 2 young ladies with thermometers who took their temperatures. If they registered having a fever they were sent to quarantine.

That was a new one! He passed.

Thankfully.

He had to teach starting today (Monday).

Then yesterday after I got back from the airport with him - I had to take him as he had a big suitcase full of quilts to give to people over there! If he hadn’t had this, he might have gone by train. It was too much to go by train when we have options. It was the full 50 lbs we were allowed.

We got 9 quilts in this bag - 4 queen size, 3 twins, a full and a lap sized one. I just have to clear out some of the quilts in my house - I have too many. It’s that simple. These weren’t charity quilts - just quilts I had made. All really nice. We used those vacuum bags, but when I opened it to take this picture I noticed that at least one of them had lost its vacuum. Hmm. We put a strap around the bag after the picture on the left. It actually weighed in at the airport at 23.1 kg. They let it go. (We are allowed 23 kg).

Then about 6 pm on Sunday, I had a friend bring over some second hand items to me. She stayed for about an hour and a half. I’m determined this week to get all of these shirts cut up (I’m behind from other visits.) She brought me a lot of things! I’m blessed!

What happens now is that she will bring me things - I’ll go through and choose what I want to keep and what I don’t think I can use, I’ll put back in a bag, and next time she’s here, I’ll give it to her for her friend.

I’m focusing again. Somehow I feel like I lost most of February. Not sure why. I suppose it has to do with being ill.

I was able to get this one finished - I’ll give you a hint.

Tomorrow I’ll give you some close ups of the goodies my sis sent me. They are so pretty and I’m eager to get busy with them - I’ll tackle the Farm Bureau one first and then my nephew’s. It feels like getting this one finished (shown above)… has helped clear the plate so to speak.

So there’s my little bits of this and that.

Hope you’ve enjoyed your little visit with me today!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
