May strips report!

It’s that time again.

Progress?

Well, yes, naturally. If one cuts this much each month, even though I didn’t get a good start early, once again, one will eventually catch up. I now have one of the two rooms that were a wreck cleaned up. I had hoped to be done with this by now, but now I’m pushing that hope/goal to the end of next month. I found a few more bags of these things to cut up in my daughter’s old room.

I also found out that I’m OUT OF my solid colored “tan” that I bought more than a year ago now. Sad eyes. I have used a lot of it on my brown charity quilts, so it makes sense, but I’m not finished with those brown charity quilt tops yet, so I will probably buy another bolt of it from the manufacturer here in Poland. I only mention that because I had just assumed I still had quite a lot of it and that it was buried in my piles of bags somewhere. Not true.

Anyway…this is what I cut up this month!

2.5” strips - 11.35 lbs

2” strips - 8.7 lbs.

1.5” strips - 7.27 lbs.

Crumbs and strings have mostly made their way already to my friend Ewa who will either use them herself or give them to her friend who works with the psychiatric hospital.

I was grateful to get the bags and bags of pieces shown last month out of my living room!

This makes the totals for this year:

Just to help you visualize again - how much this is worth - in official “Jelly Rolls” - let’s say I now had 11 more of them this month just because of what I cut up into 2.5” strips. That’s worth something, isn’t it?

These 11 2.5” strips rolls are the equivalent in weight to what I cut up in 2.5” strips alone in May! Not too shabby, actually!

I think it is! And that’s if I just say a “Jelly Roll” weighs a pound. Mine weigh a tad bit less than a pound.

And yes, I’m quite tired of having this project hanging over my head. I had thought I was almost finished. Really. In April, I did so much that I thought I could get these all cleared out by now. And I could.

I could load it all in my friend’s car and be done with it. But I’m not quite that tired of them yet!! I might think I am and then I swish my hand through the scraps and decide…”not yet”.

It is also true that I did not cut for hours and hours each day like I did in April. I was motivated then!

Now, I’m back to the marathon - had a little sprint in there - back to the long term jog pace.

I know I can conquer this mountain if I just apply myself day by day. I could also actually forget everything else and apply myself to it and get it done pretty quickly, but I think I’m asking for either carelessness (and cutting myself), or getting crazy and throwing out more than I really want to or just frustration.

So I will continue to plod along! I’m okay with plodding. I’ve never minded doing the dirty jobs or when mowing, didn’t mind doing the trim work as a teenager while others took the big open areas.

But now you know! It’s another month of cutting - another 11 “Jelly Rolls” worth of 2.5” strips added to my bags and bags of already cut up strips.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
