And yes...more beautiful quilts from donated tops!
I’ve been busy this week - my goal was to get my quilts for this calendar year all quilted - the charity ones, that is.
I did. I finished the last one on Friday afternoon.
Here are some of the ones you all donated that I’ve not shown in detail yet. These are beauties for sure!
I really don’t mean to gush, but you all, —the blog readers and Facebook group members (and the email readers)—have certainly outdone yourselves in giving me such beautiful tops to finish up!
This one is really nice. Not sure what else to say about it. The quality of fabrics is top notch, the sewing is first rate, and the design is classy. It is a sure “hit”.
When we are given tops, to date, we’ve not really put names on them so once they get taken out of the boxes they are sent in, I really don’t know who makes what for us. That being said, I’m pretty sure this seamstress made several for us - as they are all super nice… I won’t embarrass myself by saying which ones, but you know…if I were a betting person, I’d lay a wager on that.
This closeup shows the beautiful fabrics! All I did was quilt it with straight lines. It was so classy - I really wanted to keep it that way with the quilting as well.
This next one I found interesting. I like it. I’ve seen some like it on the internet - esp. in a baby size quilt. That being said, it makes a wonderful charity quilt - and will certainly be chosen very quickly. I’m sure of that!
Here’s a close up of how I quilted it. I could have gone back and quilted another row of lines of the cream, but I decided not to - looks fine. I had a bit of a time horsing the quilt around in order to quilt it because of the way I did it. Might have been easier to do an all over - but I like how I did it.
Another beautiful, classy, design with the browns and blues. Super nice! Someone is going to snatch this one up - I am positive!!!
A close up of this brown and blue quilt. So pretty. Such nice fabrics and so soft!
If you made this top, please do not shoot me. I thought for sure I had a roses on black fabric very similar to what you used in the center. However, I apparently have already used it up on other charity quilts, so this outer roses on black is the second best. It’s not an exact match - but I think someone will choose this quilt who loves roses and won’t mind that they aren’t the same.
This one is for the rose lover…There are lots of them on this quilt! And plenty to look at as well with the soft green forming the square in a square effect.
This blues/green quilt with tumblers - another one of those really super nice quilts made from soft fabrics and very well done. I so appreciate this seamstress. (I’m pretty sure it’s a lady—sorry if you are a man and donated this one, but I really don’t think so far we’ve had any man donate tops!)
Up close. So much to check out in this quilt! Here it is “big”.
This next one left my jaw hanging down. Wow. I am really not sure why someone did this for us. Seriously? Let me say that as I worked on this and noticed all the details, well, I just had to get up and show my husband who was in his office! This person took my request for tops appropriate for men (especially) to heart. This one really - she went overboard (in a wonderful way).
Let me show you: First of all the overview. I did add the outer green border to make it into the single/twin that I’m looking for here. But the rest - all hers.
Let me show you the details that makes me wonder if this seamstress had planned to give this to her beloved son and changed her mind. First of all the flange. I’m stunned.
What was the over to the top part to was all this embroidery this generous soul put on this top. Check it out!
It’s simply wonderful.
I’m at a loss to know how to make sure it goes to someone who will at least somewhat appreciate it. But I’ll figure something out! I am sure that the maker of that last one had fun doing so!
Here they are - in a collage.
Once again - thank you so very much! I am so happy to have all of your help this year.
I hope you readers are enjoying the eye candy! These are donations from you all!!
Now I’m off to binding and washing so I’ve got to try to stay on top of everything to keep the washing machine going as I try to wash these only during our cheap time. Our electricity is 40% less than the other times between 10 pm and 6 am daily and between 1 and 3 pm PLUS Sat. and Sundays - all day. So I’ll try to finish as many as I can in order to keep the washing machine going this weekend and then every night and during the afternoons during the week until I get them finished up.
Thanks for reading! Have a great day wherever you are!
Stay Safe! Hope you have time to create today!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store! We have lots!
Here’s one of the beautiful things we have! This panel by Timeless Treasures/Chong a Hwong…so pretty!
