Noble Packages Family # 2 - Update

The “Weekend of Miracles” is over now. Ok, that’s an exaggeration - I know it and you do too. But for some, it was a very special weekend. Let me go family by family and explain what we did for each. I am quite tired tonight (Sun) so I’m making this first post about Family #2 because it is the easiest one for me to do.

The update here is pretty short. This family was the second one I chose and it was a man with his sick wife. Family #1 will come later.

These are all the medical and personal supplies I collected for the wife. I had no idea special bandages (with silver in them - often) could be so expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had taken a bunch of bandages and things to her/him not long after I chose the name. I talked with the volunteer, and found out that she was very sick - and the volunteer was afraid that she might not live until the day of the Weekend of Miracles. I took them these things after about a week of having their names. I took them out to their house along with the volunteer, Greta, who helped me know where to go.

This was what I took in November -about the 20th or so to their house along with the volunteer.

Here is the pile of bandages and creams that they had.

I then went ahead and prepared the gifts. I got them the normal things including food and chemical/cleaning supplies and personal hygiene things like toothpaste and toothbrushes.

I then got them a set of towels, new duvets and duvet covers, each of them got a quilt and bottom sheets, etc. In addition to this, I got them a microwave, a rug and other things. We also got them a ton of coal.

The man keeps his coal in this car which is half buried.

We took it all in on Saturday morning and the presents were piled in the gymnasium at the school.

This pile is their pile of gifts - starting the rolled rug on the left over to the white line on the right.

Then the person who is in charge of the whole Noble Packages in Otwock pulled me aside and told me that “Pani Jadwiga died this morning.” Greta, the volunteer was there and she was very sad. They are both worried about the man as he had spent the last part of his life caring for her. They also told me they don’t have the right to take her presents and give them to someone else. I assured them that I had been prepared for this eventuality by the volunteer as she had told me that she was afraid that the lady might not live til the big event (December 11). Anyway, I told them I have another friend in Otwock whose mom is in a similar situation (bedridden) and can use the adult diapers and creams and bandages that I gave them. They will go through the presents and return them. I told them to keep the bedding if the man wants it - or give it to the daughter who was helping out there daily with food and cleaning up.

Anyway…after that sad news…let me show you what you all gave them.

Anyway, because of the situation with the wife’s death - (she had been in a coma) - I probably won’t get pictures of the delivery of the packages. I think we can all understand. I did want you to see what we gave them. Thank you again for helping this man!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey! I am hoping to hop back into the sewing this week - even as I talk about what we did with these families.
