Fidget Mats on Steroids!

What can I say?

Ewa has had so much fun making fidget mats - it’s actually rather amazing!

I thought it was time to show them to you - so you, too, can be wowed. However, we have so many, I am not sure you can truly appreciate them. But we can try!

I’m also going to be putting a page on the website where I can have these along with my other series of quilts. No, these are not quilts, but they something I want to have a great record of so we can all go back and see them anytime we wish for inspiration and enjoyment!

We are trying to make sure these are washable, though there are sometimes things that might not make it through the laundry in perfect condition. In that case, that particular “part” might have to be eliminated.

Never fear, however. There’s enough interesting things on each of these to keep one’s interest!

I have found homes for all of these - and I’m so happy. I’ve made contact with a psychologist who told me they can use these in her office - either herself or her coworkers and their clients. They are designed to give people with dementia or Alzheimer’s something to fiddle with with their fingers.

During these days, especially, I did not want to be heading out to some senior homes - they aren’t really keen on guests right now.

Anyway.

These mats are made with almost all upcycled materials. I did bring back some pony beads for Ewa to use and previously I had bought some trims from our local shop - to be used in these. Since I hadn’t made any yet, and she was eager to do it (and doing it), I shared some of what I had bought with her. But not really that much. Most of it she came up with all by herself. It’s amazing what you can cut up and use again - if people are throwing it away. There is everything here from second hand stuffed animals to cuffs from clothing to zippers and parts of silk flower and garment tags and zippers, snaps, ties, elastic bands, soft, fuzzy things, shimmery, things, and plastic-y type things. Just enjoy the creative efforts of Ewa.

There are over 50 fidget mats here - so it’s quite a feat to check them all out! But you should!

So here you are. I like how Ewa has used the tops of jeans to be the support of the fidget mats. Using the belt loops to hold many of the fun things I thought was ingenious! I love it!

She put a lot of time into these - they are fantastic. I hope that they will help many people!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
