"Charming Greens" - UP Greens #4 top finished
This top was made with 5” cut squares. I used all different greens - varying from mustard green to brownish green to teal, to grass green and camo green. I actually have very little grass green - which disappoints me greatly. However, maybe I will learn to love the sage greens more than I do currently.
(They are beginning to grow on me, I’ll admit.)
For this top, I pulled from my darker solid greens box. I am about “out” of the larger pieces of the smaller parts of clothing. I do have a few pieces that were tablecloths or sheets, however, left. The rest I will probably go ahead and cut up - as I need to think of what to do with the pockets. I’ve got an idea which is a biggie, with pockets!
Anyway…this is a simple “on point" with squares quilt. It is made with 1.5” cut sashings and 1.5”cornerstones.
Of course with something like this the biggest part is in the putting it together as the sashings and cornerstones make for a slow top construction. It’s tedious, I admit.
Boring.
A little.
The good thing about putting a top together like this - each row you add - you see progress in the finished top and it gets bigger and bigger. I think I put this one together over the course of 3 days.
I used at least 3 different, if not four, different creamy/muslin type fabrics for the off white sashing. You can see the difference up close. Hopefully it’s not obvious from a distance.
Here is the layout - it took 288 5” squares (if I remember right) and a bunch of sashing strips and cornerstone squares!
And there you are! This is a very simple quilt - but maybe it it something you could use. If you have leftover “charm squares” - it would work for that.
Because of that, I’m going to call the pattern for this “Charming”. This quilt top is “Charming Greens” - a play on the name of the top AND the color green that I used for this top.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
