This is the quilt I needed to make for the lady that asked me for one.

She had asked me for a quilt to cover a twin size/single bed she had in her home back in September. I had said I was sure I could come up with something some time - but no promise as to when. I had felt obligated to do so because she and her daughter (her daughter mostly) had given me second hand shirts for over a year - that they got from a friend who had a second-hand store. I had previously already given her a quilt, and her daughter, three quilts, so it wasn’t as if I hadn’t actually given them anything.

Right about Christmas she wrote me asked if I would have time to finish it after Christmas.

Busted.

Actually I didn’t answer her at first at all. I was pretty exhausted from the huge charity quilt push and then the Noble Packages. I didn’t feel like breaking any records getting this one done.

I wanted this one to go together quickly, so I chose to use blocks I had sitting in my sewing room, already put together.

I ended up making this one 50”x82”.

She had wanted one 48” wide, but I couldn’t get it to be that exact size. It is a bit long and skinny for my taste, but she wanted it just big enough to cover the top of the bed and a little bit on each side.

I straight line quilted it - a bit on the random side. I didn’t try to make all the lines exactly the same distance apart when quilting as I didn’t want to make it that difficult for myself.

I haven’t made the shadows on a Shadowed quilt in grays on gray very often, if ever. So, I did this time. I thought the gray would look nice with the purples, blues, and pinks, purplish pinks I was using in the blocks.

I did struggle with the wind a bit. I thought I’d take the opportunity to let you see the back. I made it from multiple pieces of second-hand fabrics I had in those colors (purples, pinks, blues) I liked how it turned out.

It’s an easy one - and I did share the block before when I showed the top here.

But here’s the pattern in case any of you need it. This is a fun way to use up blocks. I like the look. It’s simple, clean looking and should appeal to a non-quilter.
