Time to say 'Goodbye' - for Now!

Today is the day that my flight to Poland was scheduled.

I am not heading back today just yet. My husband is.

It is bittersweet.

I changed my flight back to Poland to from June 2 to August 3.

I am hoping and praying that by then mom will be up and on her feet and taking care of her own physical needs.

Currently I am still changing her and a CNA is giving her a bath in the bed. I couldn’t imagine leaving her at this point in her recovery.

She is exercising daily to gain strength in her legs. However, we are helping her get up and walk and supporting her by two people holding on each side of her as she walks with the walker.

After August 3, it will be getting very important that I get back to my own home. There are things that need to be taken care of including my own residency permit renewal.

But as we say goodbye to my husband for now, neither mom nor I know what to say. He’s been instrumental in getting mom to where she is currently and he will be missed immeasurably!

Thank you so much for asking about and praying for mom’s continued recovery. It is slow, but then, she’s almost 89 and didn’t start out as strong as someone 20 years her junior!

I will be sending back quilt tops with my husband that have been given to me - to help fill his suitcase to 50 lbs. Thanks so much to all of you who have donated things. I also have some tops from “before” - that I will be shipping back to him once I know he is back safe and sound in Poland. Last fall I had them ready to ship and then I didn’t feel very well PLUS I knew I had a lot of tops back in Poland that I had wanted to finish up in 2020 (and I did).

My brother is driving down from SC to help with mom for a few weeks. We trust all goes well with the transition of the physical therapy from my husband, Mike, to my brother, Jon.

As a result of all of this, I will be sticking around, having access to the store’s stock. I can’t say I totally mind that - but I do miss my own stash, naturally!

I am creating my own pile of scraps, anyway - so I should be starting to think of a new pattern to use these pieces up with!

What do you think?

For what it’s worth, I have finished eighteen (18) quilts- all lap quilt size - from panels - since being here! It’s no wonder I’m getting a little tired of them - all the while loving how they are turning out.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks so much for coming along on my journey with me!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Here’s one of the beauties we have!
