Quilted Twins

"Bars and Stripes"

I did manage to get this one finished up lately!

This quilt has been growing on me.

A lot.

When I first started making it, I thought, “Ugh, how boring is it?” Then, as I kept going, and even more importantly, as I laid it out with the black side setting triangles and really took a look at it, I began to be intrigued.

With the blocks looking like this - I thought there would be no interest.

Have you felt like that about something you’ve made? Has it gotten better as you worked on it - something you feared would be a big flop?

Well, in the end, I really do like it!

Quite a lot in fact.

Here are some pictures of my quilting it.

The final quilt looks like this!

It’s actually quite long. 91”x110”.

I did alternate the cornerstone blocks’ color because I thought it made it more interesting. There was no more reason than that. I played around with making them all black, but in my Electric Quilt program, I just preferred them like this.

In the photo outside, I really didn’t get a good close up of the quilting. The thread I used just blended so well that it was difficult to get a nice shot. Plus, for this one, I was really looking for the overall design.

The backing is all upcycleds as well.

I took this photo in my first round. I had washed this quilt and then let it get a little squished and wrinkled in between the time I washed it and when I took these photos.

Since I wasn’t very happy with the wrinkles in it, I decided to rewash it, put it in the dryer for a while and then take more photos of a hopefully unwrinkled quilt.

(It worked!) But I didn’t take more photos of the back.

The batting on this one is all cotton, so it does keep the wrinkles a lot more than the poly does.

I actually don’t use 100% cotton that much, as I don’t have a good inexpensive source of it, but I did have some to use for this one.

The quilt roll:

I ended up finishing the pattern. It’s here!

I hope someone can use it. The whole quilt is made up of a single block plus sashing/cornerstones and the side and corner setting triangles so it’s not difficult.

and once again - let’s review!

UP Greens series to date:

It’s coming along nicely.

As a clue, I do have another 5 or so planned. At the point I finish these 5, I’ll see better where I am. I keep thinking I’ll be done with the next one I finish - but I know that’s not realistic. I need to get more in touch with reality!

Anyway…

Thanks for coming on my quilting journey with me!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
