Update on the Upcycled Greens series

I think it is time to update you more fully on where I stand on this hopefully soon-to-be- ending (??) series. What series am I talking about?

The Upcycled Greens series, of course!

This is what I started with!

June 1, 2020 - The boxes and bags I started with!

After making a few tops, this is what I had. It didn’t seem like I had used anything up. But truthfully, I had added some to it because I had completely gone through all my bags of uncut shirts and I had dealt with them. In doing that I had added some to this collection.

February 5, 2021 - but in this photo, they are loosely piled…not stacked densely.

Here’s the overall picture of where I am now:

To summarize - the quilts and tops

BUT, that isn’t the whole story.

I am down to three boxes of pieces of clothing. My goal is to have two boxes - not three.

Three? That is great! I’m definitely going in the right direction!

I also have this bag of 2” strips on the left and to the right, a box of 2.5” already cut up.

I’m planning on starting to use up those 2” strips - soon. I’ll probably start sewing with them on the day you read this blog post.

There is also this whole box of pieces to be used for the Checkered top. That is number 8 in the series and it is currently under construction.

This box needs to be cut up into 1.5”, 2” or 2.5” strips. It’s really leftover cutoffs from what I’ve been using. Once I can no longer get a cut of 1.5” out of it, I will either toss it to Ewa for crumbs or into kindling.

I have two bags near my cutting area - one for trash/kindling and one for crumbs (for Ewa). The 1.5” strips get thrown into the Checkered box. If I do end up with too many 1.5” strips, I’ll have to make another plan.

These are bagged up for upcoming quilts.

I’m actually working on the ones with burgundy now. the pinwheel blocks will be used soon in yet another one. They are from the snowballed corners from Spools ‘n Stitches.

These two bags are full of pockets. I’d like to do something with them but I might not.

I am getting eager to finish these up. I’m tickled about what I have been able to do so far. In comparison to the UP Blues series, I really haven’t had nearly as many greens as I had blues. So, hopefully the series will actually be winding to a close. At least I don’t think it will last 2 years. There just aren’t enough things left unless I happened to get a massive infusion of green items.

We’ll see how far this series go! I just thought it was time to give you a better overview of what I’ve got. I needed to see it all for myself - and thought I’d let you in on it as well!

Thanks for coming along on my journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
