"Checkered" - UP Greens #8 finally finished!

Aww. It’s really good to have this quilt top finally finished. Yes, FINALLY!

It’s been so long - I’m not sure that I’ve ever taken this long to finish a top that I was actually working on. But obviously, I had some interruptions in its progress.

Here it is - in all its glory - finished as a top!

I sewed several of the strips together and then attached this small section of several rows to the center that I had already done.

I then spent quite a bit of time pressing it. I can see one section of this top that seems a little squirrelly - I will have to make sure it is nice and flat there when I go to sandwich this one.

Knowing that I am going to use poly batting and straight line quilt it - helps as it will help everything flatten out nicely.

The reason I could get this last section done so quickly is because I had worked on it before when it looked like I wasn’t making much progress - but I was still making strip sets, but I wasn’t finishing blocks - just parts of blocks.

At the end, I was able to go much faster because I had all the little parts finished already - so making the little 16 patches was just that - sewing the strips of 4x together.

This top weighs 3.75 lbs. It’s a queen size quilt.

Here is the history of this top. I’ll put the dates on it - so you can see the progress I made and when I made each step. While I was focusing on other things (first, my mom while in FL) and then while I was working on all those charity quilts from August to October, obviously, I wasn’t working on this top.

Someone commented that this top must weigh quite a bit. In fact, I weighed it on my scale - it is 1.70 kg or 3.75 lbs.

This top is about 91”x97”.

This collection of Upcycled Greens now looks like this:

I’m on my way to finishing up many of these tops. As I finish them, I’m trying to put them on line as free patterns.

Many of these are very, very simple so they can be done by you - no matter how much of a beginner you are. I kind of specialize in easy patterns as I have so much I want to get done! And while most are easy - not all are quick. :)

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
