UP Greens #8 "Checkered" progress report
I added three more rows - LONG ones - to this top. My last progress report on this top was back in August. After I worked on it, I then put everything aside to focus on those charity quilts. I had worked on some pieces back in August - but I picked back up in the last few days.
The rows had 33, 31, and 29 squares in them - so that was about 90 more little 16 patches I had to make for this particular update.
From now on, I’m on the downhill side, as you can tell.
In fact, I checked and I need 170 more 16 patches - so I’m starting to feel like it’s do-able - in theory anyway, I could get busy and just finish this thing.
But I’m not quite yet. I need get some more 1.5” strips cut from my greens.
Oh…I’ve been cutting up strips every day for about an hour - trying to keep on top of those scraps that were leftover from the charity quilting backing - all those scraps that I trimmed off - I’m trying to do them THIS year instead of waiting til next year.
This is how this top looks now. On the bottom left it kind of looks like it’s headed off into neverland. I may have to really work with it as I sandwich it to make sure it isn’t off kilter.
I’m really enjoying this top at this point. I plan on straight line quilting it just as I did the blue one. I liked the blue one so much - I figure “Why change?”
It kind of reminds me of the expression, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” (grammar for emphasis)
And just so you can see how this has worked for now - let me share this progress series of photos for you to see.
Here’s a close up so you can see the various colors/shades of greens involved in this top.
And that’s it for this report!
I’m guessing I may take two more progress reports to finish this one! Since it was February when I started on this one, it was way past time to see it to its conclusion!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
