2021 - Charity quilts 11-20

Now that I’m going on these - I’m going. I have had my nose to the grindstone and really sat down to work!

Our weather has been cooperating fully and it is cool. I might even call it chilly for August (in the 60s F.) So, I was eager to get going on these as I was so far behind and I had had no plan to get so far behind again this year like I did last year. I had gotten a decent start on these back in March/April - by doing a lot of sandwiching and getting started on quilting. I’ve been quilting more - daily - and sandwiching.

Here are the next ten quilts I’ve got for you to see.

I then went ahead and took them on over to the church building and put them in the room.

While I was there, I re-sorted the quilts I do have as they were a big mess from the thieves and also when we took five out of there for some people a couple of weeks ago. Now I know where I have the adult/teen ones and the children’s quilts.

Of the four piles, from left to right are 1. adult size with the bottom part being large quilts- starting with the blue jelly roll race one that is folded differently. 2. adults/teens 3. top half is adult/teens, bottom half children’s 4. children’s quilts

Don’t worry about the light ruining the quilts - I’ll be back in there within the week and rearrange or put more in here. The sun isn’t hitting directly and this time of year it’s not very strong/hot here in Poland.

Here is my notebook with my numbers of quilts in the room. I’m currently at 125. When I add or take out any quilts, I am doing my best to write it down. After the burglary, I couldn’t find my nice black marker, so I left a blue pen in there to write with.

Do you see the tubs these quilts are sitting on? Some are empty - but others are FULL of quilt tops. Most of them are full. Next time I’ll try to get photos of those for you to see.

I came to the startling realization that out of 125 quilts shown here, I only have 31 children’s quilts! I already know of the 120 I’m doing this year (of which 20 are already here), 52 of them will be big ones - so not children’s.

Umm.

Washed, bound and stacked - ready for photos. Didn’t the red polka dots made cute bindings? I think so!

All of the brown ones - from the Big Fabric Haul I don’t think of as children’s either.

Hmm.

I have gone from the ridiculous to the sublime. There was a time when I felt I had only children’s quilts - and no adult types.

Did I mention? I’m going to aim for an October give-away this fall. Maybe mid-October. We’ll see how I’m doing on my goals.

Of these ten, I made the 4 brown ones and the two scrapbook style ones. The other four tops were from Fran, from AZ that I added borders to. However, I did finish all of these myself.

I will just focus on finishing up the children’s tops I do have already made - I will look around for those. I also can come up with simple patchwork tops using some of the children’s fabrics for Ewa’s mom to make for us.

And while I personally have SOME children’s fabrics, I don’t have a lot of any one kind - so making a bunch from my own stash is difficult. I do have about 15 Spiderman panels and I’ll work on finishing about 5 or 6 of those before October.

I now have some cute fabrics that I could use in some tops - 6” or 8” squares alternating with pink or red polka dots - as appropriate. I have a lot of that fabric as they made me (LOL) buy 100 meter bolts since that is all the wholesale place had available.

Actually I just want to finish them all. I’m weird, I think. I would just love to have them all done. I just don’t think that it is realistic.

Anyway, that’s it for my report for today. This blog post, while only one post represents hours and hours of work as those of you who quilt realize. If you have helped, once again, let me say “Thanks!’ I can’t say it often enough!

Hopefully these will be getting new homes this fall! 2021 Charity quilts 11-20.
