Quilt Drive Update for Friday, April 15, 2022

Another week and according to the guess here in Dade City, at least another 1000 quilts came in. I’ll be seriously interested once the quilts start making it to Becky to see how many she gets, as I know she’ll keep better count than we have.

(We haven’t counted at all, though our brother David, the accountant has.) He brought us 150 quilts alone, from the Greenville, SC, area, when he came in last Saturday!

Of course, when we say quilts, we do mean lap quilts, baby quilts, full size quilts and queen size quilts. We also include afghans, baby blankets, knitted, crocheted and fleece blankets.

Our preference is for quilts. Those are the things that are hard to get over there. Impossible really.

It’s been a few days since I’ve shared pictures with you, so I thought I’d do so. Becky needed a bit of a “blog break” and I needed to share with you some of the beauties that have been shared with us to send on to the Ukrainians.

Some absolutely stunning quilts were donated on Thursday for the Ukrainian Refugees. Just wow. There was hardly a dry eye in the shop when looking at this one that someone so generosly donated for some poor family who has been displaced.

Becky and Mike still have not received our first batch, so I’ve just gradually been sending them out. In fact, I’ve only sent out 9 boxes, waiting to open that pipeline before flooding them on in. However, I believe that the pipeline is about to be open, so we’ll be sending boxes through regularly soon.

With every step, there’s more information, more numbers, more forms to fill out. We believe that this first box will be the hardest. At least we surely hope so!

Now if you think that both Becky and I  are tired, you are 100000% percent right.

So, this blog will be mostly pictures. It gives us both a bunch of rest, and you all can just enjoy the pictures, the smiles and more.

The quilts go from this

To this:

Each box weighs from 80 to 115 pounds! They are packed full of quilts and pillowcases!

Our fund to pay for the shipping currently has run ahead of the quilts brought in! However, I’m sure that won’t last long once we really start to ship daily! The quilts are coming in daily via USPS, Fed Ex and USPS. Of course, there are drop offs. These are often by the carload or van load.

I hope you have enjoyed this little taste of our latest quilt drive! It’s been a ton of fun!

Please realize that ALL of us are doing this FOR the Ukrainian refugees, and that we do not receive anything from doing this.

We also do not have the manpower to write thank you notes to each person who has chosen to help the Ukrainians, either by supplying quilts, helping with the work, or paying for shipping.

Rest assured that your quilts and energies are met with lots of enthusiasm and excitement. We also appreciate each of you and we are incredibly thankful that have come along for the ride and are helping with this mammoth project.

Please keep on shipping quilts to us, or bringing them in.

The address is: Quilted Twins, 13829 US Hwy 98 ByPass, Dade City, FL 33525.

We are incredibly thankful for you. I’ll be greatly rejoicing when I can tell you that the PIPELINE has broken open and the quilts are starting to pour in. Right now, the pipeline hasn’t broken through the path quite yet, but we still work to prepare things. If you would like to volunteer to help package the quilts, please shoot us a text at: (352) 507-8458.
