Here in Poland summer weather hits before official summer begins. For most of you all, school is over and probably has been for at least a week or more, depending on where you live.

Here, school goes til the third week of June but summer weather often begins early in June - and sometimes in May.

Our weather varies tremendously. Two weeks ago we needed long sleeves and jackets. Today we feel like we are in a sauna with weather around 85 F. It was quite uncomfortable outside.

I know.

For those of you who have hot weather, 80-85 F is somewhat cool - at least certainly not unusual.

However, the average summer temps in Warsaw - the closest big city look like this.

June - the lows/highs - 54/74 F with the average - 65 F

July - the lows/highs - 58/77 F with the average - 67.7 F

Aug - the lows/highs - 57/76 F with the average - 66.6 F

So you can see in June if we get temps in the 80s, it is not what we are used to. However, during June we do sometimes get a week or so of pretty hot weather. As long as it cools off at night, we can keep our house cool.

I’m only bringing this up because it is hard to work on quilts when a person is sweating and quite warm. The thought of quilts/blankets is unappealing at minimum. Thankfully so far the house has stayed reasonable, so I’ve been able to work. I know everyone who works in a temperature controlled environment like a/c really hardly notices the outside temps.

Right? Today was pretty humid, so we couldn’t help but notice.

I’m personally grateful for the heat, though - in hopes it will help my corn come up. I’ve not even checked on the garden in the last two days because it has rained and didn’t need my attention for watering.

So here’s my question for you - do you have air conditioning in the area where you sew? If not - do you limit your sewing or quilting to times of days when it is cool or does the heat not bother you?

Once I get the long arm room going - I will retreat to the basement - as it is nice and cool down there and the thought is really appealing!
