UFO Report 2022 - #3

These posts were already done and scheduled before ‘everything’ started happening here - will update on the refugee situation and what I’ve been doing - on Monday. This may settle into being a long refugee situation. Thank you, again, everyone, for your help..

So…back to what I had already planned for today.

Baggie #2 held squares - browns/reds which ended up being 6”-6.5” squares - this is what I did with them -

I did get a chance to finish up the top of my second little baggie of little squares - that I thought were 6.5” but not all were the same. I then changed my idea to making wonky blocks.

I got the top together - and here it is. It is now 94.5”x94.5” - so quite large! This really wasn’t my intention when I started on these UFOs. I had thought to just make them smallish and get them finished.

But….

So what do I think of it? In the end, I like it.

With these squares, some of them were prettier than others. I decided to just not worry about it, though, and made what I had at the time and didn’t switch out any of my squares to improve the collection.

I decided that at least with these particular squares, I didn’t want to start switching them out for better fabrics or I would quickly lose the “point” of using them up as they had been collected together.

This one ended up being large as I mentioned it before - it is a nice queen size - 94.5”x94.5”. We currently have a quilt about that size on our bed - queen size bed. It works fine.

Just as an example of the next two baggies that I have - these will be the next two things I will begin to work on - gotta make some plans and forward progress.

I originally had wanted this to be a rag quilt - though this is regular cotton. But this is a Christmas poinsettia - a beautiful one.

I will probably do something like this but may put the hst on the edges to make it more 3D than it is already.

This is a bag of 1/5” strips which I wanted to make into a small Vintage Chain quilt - made from thirties feed sack fabrics. Not sure if the feed sacks are real or not, but I like the colors on them!

This project will last over many weeks. I have the design already - as I wanted to make a small one of these shown below.

This pattern is so fast to make, that I will be able to get this one do reasonably quickly.

The pattern is called Vintage Chain -

With regards to the burgundy poinsettias, I may just made a simple shadowed quilt featuring those beautiful prints. It would make up a super quick and easy Christmas quilt - which is my kind of seasonal quilts! :)

And there you go - that’s my UFO report - I did finish up that baggie of the browns/reds - so another one gone out of my cabinet! Yeah!

Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting journey with me!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Here’s one of the beauties we have!
