Quilted Twins

It Figures

Some volunteers who took ‘stuff’ into one of the places where they are housing women and children. I originally just brought them laundry detergent and dishwashing tablets, but when I asked if he wanted the other stuff in the van, they took it all.

Right when I have no charity quilts….

But it’s okay. I am working on some now - trying to get 20 or 30 done ASAP. It is March - I should be working on #21-30 anyway.

Yes…I am working on them. Ewa came over and we sandwiched 10 in one day. That gave me the first 10 to get going on. I gave 2 of the straight line ones to quilt right back to her to do as she has a walking foot on her machine and they really aren’t hard to do with one of those.

I did have a lady write me right away and ask me if I had any more charity quilts for the refugees.

The answer was ‘No’. Well, she asked me if I had any more quilts. The answer to that question is “Yes” but they aren’t charity quilts - they are beloved by me and I’m not ready to let them go yet. The only quilts I have in my house now are ones that I really want to have - well, at least until I start thinning them out. Every once in a while I need to get rid of 5 or 10 of them just to make more room for

Anyway - I’ve been wanting to get some of these charity quilts together in order to make some complete packages for people.

They will include a quilt, a blanket, a small towel, a bottom sheet a pillow and a new pillowcase.

I’m so excited about these. I also am going to attempt to put them in a travel bag so that it is useful as well!

Here’s what it looks like!

No fair, right? I didn’t think so either.

So I will start back at the beginning.

A finished charity quilt - and all the goodies rolled up together.

It’s back to the process of sandwiching, quilting, trimming, binding, washing/drying and photographing.

All the goodies!

This time, however, I am making whole sets of things to go with the quilts. I’m going to give them a flat sheet (a piece of fabric that has been hemmed), a pillow and pillowcase along with the quilt. I may throw in a soft fuzzy blanket-throw that works with it. These things are very warm and we need warm these days here. So each will be a set.

Obviously I have to show you how I did this. It’s not too hard.

I rolled it up tightly (sorta) and put a string around it - could use a bit of something to make it tighter/smaller. My husband gave me an idea of what that would be.

And stuff it all in this bag.

Now I don’t know what you think of this - but I really like this little bundle of goodies. I’m happy to give it away and am ‘proud’ of it, if I can use that word!

And so this is one of the things I’ve been working on this week. I do have the first 10 charity quilts done - am trying to finish up 30 - to get me caught up to the month by the end of March - and make them each into bundles like this.

I’m trying to make the pillowcases match the back and the bottom sheet “go with” it as well. I think this might be a good way to use up some fabric I’ve had lying around for some time now.

These pillowcases are amazingly addicting! They always turn out adorable!!

Anyway, a bundle like this obviously involves a lot more than just the quilt. But it’s so fun! I like it. I think adding the little pillowcase just makes me smile. I never would have believed it, if I hadn’t made one.

So that’s what I’ve been up to!

A whole pile of sandwiched quilts

This is what I’m doing - along with some fun quilting as well. I need to keep doing “something else’ to help keep my sanity.

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Here’s one of the beauties we have!

While it’s a bit early for pansies here in Poland - there are places in the northern hemisphere that it’s not. Get yours here! $8.
