What about the Trash?
I suppose you can imagine that all this packing of quilt kits is creating a bit of trash.
It is.
We have never ever created this amount of trash. Ever.
Plastic.
Cardboard.
Paper.
All of these pillows, blankets and other orders (plus various things I’ve ordered that aren’t related to these vinyl packs) are creating a lot of extra trash.
A couple of observations.
Cardboard isn’t what it used to be. There is some that seems to fall apart upon touching. I mean a box that is holding 5 pillows coming apart when carried 40 feet? Seriously? I’m not sure they can make some of this cardboard any less sturdy.
Just because a box is taped doesn’t mean it will stay that way. Check out these.
Up to now, we have been able to keep up with our trash by burning in our woodstove. Not now. We are having now to send our paper to recycling. We simply have too much!
I just thought you’d like to see this little bit of “behind the scenes” look at the trash!
It is part of a grocery store (or any store actually) that I don’t actually think about! I’m not a store - but I’ve got the issues!
I am trying to reuse the plastic bags that are reusable - some are being used to hold the baby sets and some are just being used around our house. I have so many, however, I may ask some friends if they want some clear bags - not really big enough for trash bags, but big enough to hold some things (like fabric scraps or strips)! :)
I’ve given away a lot of the shrink bags to locals and sent a few to Ukraine a week ago. I also have kept some.
So there you go! A behind-the-scenes look at the trash I’m generating! Last recycling Sat. (they collect it once a month), I think we had about 12 big bags of plastic - normally I have about 3 or 4. It was crazy!
