“Easy Peasy” - Panel Quilts

Last summer when I was in FL taking care of mom - can you believe that was only just over a year ago now - seems forever ago - my sis asked me to make a couple of very simple tops and then quilt them myself.

We wanted to encourage a lot of you who feel ‘not good enough’ that you can quilt your own smaller quilts. I know that you can! I took 2 quilt panels that were about the yard size and added 2 borders to each of them. The idea was to show you how easily you can make a charity quilt - with minimal piecing but making a really fun charity quilt. Kids love panel quilts. In fact, most of the younger ones probably would prefer a panel quilt with a motif they like over an intricately pieced quilt where they can not tell what fabrics you used. It’s just how it is. So…here are the two I did.

I did straight line quilting on my simple machine that I had in FL - and I marked those lines with Crayola washable markers and a straight edge. If you wanted a really cool “modern” look, you could put them very close together. That’s how easy it is. These are about 45”x53”.

Rachael wanted to offer these simple panel quilts to you as a kit - if you are looking to make some charity quilts. So, we’ve put together some combinations together as kits for you. The borders will be two blenders in the colors as shown - which work with the tops as shown.

Here are the first 5 panels that we are making into kits. We are offering these two ways - as simply the panel + 2 border fabrics or the panel, 2 border fabrics AND backing which will include enough to do the binding.

How convenient are these? Think how quick and easy they would be to finish. Maybe you don’t even want them for a charity quilt, but for a quilt that you sort of obligated to make but don’t want to spend much time on it - but still have something cute.

Here are the kits we’re offering first.

Get this. Each of the panel quilts we have here have three different options - different colorways. Each of these will finish at about 43”x54” (Depends on how big the panel is.)

Each of these is only $15 for the basic QUILT KIT - which gives enough supplies for the quilt top!

Such a deal!

The first one is called Piggies and Parachutes. Click here for those quilt kits.

The next set is made with the Aristocats panel - choose from one of these options.

The next set is from a panel called Disney Leading Ladies. Here are the three choices.

The next set is called the Incredible Dad panel. Isn’t this a super idea?

This next one is based on a Mickey and Pluto panel that is pastels. Choose one of these three!

On each page of the website, there will be an option for backing fabric that coordinates along with enough fabric for the binding. That will only be $16.50! So together you could get this whole set for $31.50 - which would give you the necessary fabrics to make a quilt that measures about 43”x54”.

We are trying to make sure you have choices for inexpensive charity quilts (or other gifts) that feature fun motifs that people love. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on these!

Check them out! These are simple and quick to finish. Keep them in mind when you find you need something like this.

These are just the first five that we’re offering—we’ll be compiling more in the future for even more choices!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Feel free to browse the site. Here’s an amazing panel!

It’s called The View from Here - by Northcott. Only $11.
