My Garden Paradise

The weather, this year, while a little difficult for us humans, has been great for pumpkins, zucchini and corn. Oh, and sunflowers.

I’m now having a hard time walking through the pumpkins to get to the corn - on the side by the point. My garden is in a triangle and I planted it a bit too thickly. Of course, it is hard to envision it completely when you put only a plant here and there.

I asked my husband to take a drone shot of the garden. Here it is from above. We do have a big oak tree in the middle of it - so I have to work around that.

Our house is actually on the other side of the road - on the left of this photo. You can easily see some of the pumpkin plants heading towards the gravel road.

So here you go - here are some of my photos from Sunday, August 21.

It is getting harder and harder to walk around lest I break off some pumpkin vines with my big feet!

Maybe I’m just a big kid. It feels like looking in the garden is like an Easter Egg hunt for me! I love finding the goodies!

This year I tried to plant many varieties of pumpkins - some very small like Jack Be Little and Baby Boo and then the larger ones - though no giant ones. I had a couple of 100 lb. pumpkins back in 2012 and towards the end, I couldn’t sleep at night because I was afraid someone would come in and steal them.

The photos below show samples of the various pumpkins and zucchini that are growing.

I have dwarf sunflowers and very tall ones as well! These dwarf ones have flowered already. The tall ones are just starting.

I can honestly say I simply do not know what all is in here. Hopefully lots of pumpkins.

Here’s a drone video my husband made of the two yellow largeish pumpkins I have growing.

I think that working with the garden - because it grows whether or not I have time to deal with it - is great for someone who gets really busy. It is very rewarding to be able to go out there after a day or so and see progress. Obviously in my sewing room, no such magic happens.

From now on, the garden will probably start to diminish - meaning the leaves will start to wilt and die off - from now til the first frost.

Sp far I’ve been able to harvest 129 zucchini - both yellow and green! I’ve given all the ones I’ve not used away. There seems to be no shortage of people who want them! That is heartening to me!

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at my garden paradise as it is now. I’ve enjoyed sharing it with you!

Have a great day wherever you are!
