Those Solids - and other Things

Ok. Whew.

Our company all left on Monday and I finished up the binding on Tuesday. I was able to put together the quilt bundles from the quilts that were sent in to me via the post office and I took them all to the church today.

Then I came home, and cleared out the corner of the living room which was been irritating me for some time now.

And then I brought in all the SOLIDS from my fabric haul from Kejt - from last week. I had wanted to tackle them right away but we were having company coming in and I knew it would take space. And if I needed space to spread out, well, it would really be difficult with other people coming in to the house. I already had enough chaos in the house.

The label has the name, how many meters, the width and the fact that it is first quality. It also has the name of the base fabric - which is called Rubin. That’s how they charge me. All “Rubin” fabrics cost the same if they are made in country and the same if they are out of country etc - they don’t charge more for one with more color or dye on it or not. Designers don’t get their names on the selvages either - at least not yet.

I’m cutting off 5 meters of most of these for Ewa for her mom right off the top. All these bolts are either 50 or 100 meters long. She has been really sewing a LOT lately and I thought I can share this with her since she’s making these tops for me for charity.

Here is a typical label that is on these bolts. Here is the sage/olive green one.

But here are the colors I ended up getting.

I did not buy any red as I already have a pretty Christmas red and a bit darker red - almost burgundy here in the house.

I picked up two pinks - a beautiful pink they called dark pink and then a very dark one they call fuschia. Both are beautiful and I’m thrilled with them. They make me happy.

Then blues - I got three blues and three greens.

They gave these the names - denim, turquoise, royal

green green, olive green, pale green

I also got three polka dots - light blue, a blueish green and a black polka dot.

I wanted a polka dot with a darker blue - sadly they didn’t have it.

Then I got two grays and a black. The black is in the middle.

I also got a pretty yellow, and a burnt orange and then a light brown, and ecru and one called sand.

from left - sand, ecru and yellow

burnt orange, light brown

I didn’t bring in the white yet - it’s still in our foyer area. But it’s just a long roll of solid white.

I felt like today was a catch-up day. Enjoy checking out these fabrics. I love the colors I ended up with! I also bought a lot of children’s fabrics mostly featuring animals and then ones I call that could be either adult or children’s - or just florals. Floral fabrics are what this place has more than anything else. I’ll show you at some future time. As I photograph these, I also am bringing them into the house and finding a place in the house for them! This is quite a bit of fabric to find a home for - but that’s necessary! They don’t belong in our entryway! :)

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
