Quilted Twins

Today's Bits and Pieces

Some days go by and it doesn’t feel like I did anything.

Why?

Today I did finish up one more quilt and then as I was taking it off, the leaders fell off the machine. I knew they were too slippery and wouldn’t stay on very well, but that just proved it.

My husband was at the church and he went upstairs to my leftover fabrics from my Big Fabric Haul and found me a piece of thicker off white so I could redo them. Also my husband told me we could get some bigger (4mm) pvc tubing and it would stick in the bar and hold things tighter. He picked up 3 meters for me while he was out so I could try it.

I did a little piecing and then fixed dinner, went shopping and ordered some food for a load to Kharkiv and went to two Lidls to buy some rechargeable work lamps that will be perfect to send to Ukraine - and then came home to work on those leaders again. Mike came back in from blowing some leaves and said maybe we could go together to Castorama (like Lowe’s) to get this PVC tubing that I need (I need three pieces of 3 meters long - not just one piece). I said, “Sure, I can go.”

I worked on two of the leaders and then we went to the store to get what we needed (two more pieces of 3 meters long 4 mm pvc tubing).

We went in the dark. I don’t like being out after dark anymore. I would so much rather be back at home in position, closing all the blinds and and working in the house somewhere with lots of light! It was just about pitch black at 4:45 pm when we left.

I also picked up 2 new screwdrivers, an Olfa cutter, and a box to keep bobbins and that screwdriver for that long arm room, etc. I will probably order an office chair. I need to be able to sit down even if for a moment to adjust the tv - but I do plan on putting a regular machine down there as well. :)

I came home and put the two leaders that I made on the machine and attached the next quilt backing and put the batting and top in position. I didn’t even attempt to baste it on yet. I’ll take your advice and try to do that on this next top. I am using the poly batting and it is thicker and basting would definitely help, I’m sure.

And that’s it. it wasn’t the most profitable day and I really don’t even know why. I think some days are just like that. I don’t feel like I just sat around and did nothing.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on this journey.
