More Charity Tops finished
I was able to add borders to these tops - as I spent many hours working on these centers of tops that Ewa’s mom made me. They were all small - smaller than what Fran from AZ has sent me. I could have just put them in my storage room upstairs at the church, but I decided to just take this period of adjusting to getting back into sewing as a chance for me to just go ahead and make up these into tops the size I need.
So here are 8 more. Each of these takes about an hour of sewing - that is, to actually sew on all those borders. I admit - I don’t pin - I just use my walking foot and sew them on. If they weren’t charity tops, I’d probably measure and pin. But that would add hours to the time needed for this many borders. It’s not really necessary for these. Once finished, they are fine. Without a walking foot, however, there is some serious warpage - so I would have to pin and measure, etc.
By the time I made decisions about what colors and what fabrics to use, it does add to the time needed, though I will admit to not agonizing too much about the borders. I go for “something that at least sorta goes”. Ok, maybe that’s an understatement. There were times I wandered into my stash room more than once to try to find something. And like many things, I did the easiest first and let the harder ones vegetate in my mind while I worked on the easy one.
Here they are. Click on the arrows to move them along faster if you wish.
Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey.
Thankfully our weather has turned MUCH, much cooler and it is making it fine to be in my sewing room and even iron. (It’s in the lower to mid 70s F.)
