More Handcrafts...at the Fair

I’ve always known that people here in the states live life at a different pace. But this is ridiculous!

Every day we have to be at the fair in the evening until about 10 pm. As such we are quite tired at the end of the day. The days are just too short, but at the same time, long enough to feel like our feet are falling off.

I realized once again, that I wanted to show more of the individual handcrafts at the local fair. So here are more photos! Today I’m featuring crocheted items, sewing and other similar items.

The method of fair judging is something that I need to explain. They are using the Danish method, which means, if you do well, you can get a blue ribbon (first) - and theoretically everyone could get one. But they are judging against a standard - and not against each other. After they go around giving all the blue, red and white ribbons, they then decide on the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion from among the blue ribbons.

In each category.

It’s not as easy as it sounds.. In fact, judging an applique quilt and an embroidered quilt all in the same category - that’s tough because while they are both quilts - they are quite different.

Such is life.

So, let me share with you some more of the goodies from the fair where we spent the evening.

Click on the arrows to make them go faster than they are. I tried to get a photo of the ribbon that went with the item. I did none of the judging, so don’t ask me why a certain thing would get a specific ribbon. I can’t give those answers.

Once again - I’m quite tired, so I’m letting these images speak for themselves. We appreciate every single person who decided to enter something into the fair.

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!
