"Classic Irish Chain" - finished from the Upcycled Greens

I did manage to get this one finished not too long ago. As you know, I’m trying to get these UP Greens one done! ( started a series a couple of years ago now featuring my Upcycled green boxes of fabrics - attempting to whittle them down to 2.

This is a classic pattern and I have already written up the Irish Chain Fancy pattern previously. It’s here.

The only difference with this one is that that one with the pattern has an extra border around the edges. As a result, it isn’t really necessary to rewrite the pattern.

This particular quilt is 94.5”x103.5” - at least as a top. After quilting and washing, it is smaller than that, I’m sure.

But this is one of the first designs that I fell in love with and it is so easy - with just a 9 patch and a plain patch.

I did use polyester batting for this one and it shows off the circular quilting I was trying for.

I used white and off white and creams for the alternate blocks - there is quite a variety of shades here - but just like in other quilts, I don’t think I realized quite the variety until I took the photos outside.

This is the backing. I did have to piece it extensively. I had used most of that print for a different quilt, but I really liked the fabric, so I wanted to use it ALL up.

This is the quilt roll - as usual I like to show them.

I did take photos from both angles.

I do like this one - but because I’ve made other Single Irish Chains, I wasn’t exactly holding my breath to see how this was going to look. Here are other Irish Chains I’ve made. I’ve made more than this - but most of them went into the charity quilt pile and don’t want to go looking for those photos.

This is where the series is to date. As I’ve mentioned before, as I quilt them, I’m putting them here and also making the patterns available. With 36 quilts in this series, I’m half done with the quilting.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey! Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
