Quilted Twins

New top finished - checkerboards on point

This is another 2.5” strips quilt - made from checkerboards made up of 13 - colorful 2.5” squares and 12 white squares. That means, you can make a single block from a single strip of the colorful prints.

This could be an adorable quilt if your fabrics were, say, from a line or fully coordinated fabrics. I used strips from my 2.5” bags so while the final product is fine - it could be, oh so “wow” with a super coordinated look.

Now this one is not my typical queen size quilt. I’m not sure why I designed this one smaller - but I did. And since I designed it only this wide, I went ahead and only made it this size. It did seem to go together a bit faster than the average top I make.

This would definitely perk up a room!

I chose these colors because once again - I wanted to work with these pretty colors!

I dug around in my bags and found enough of these colors -

I may be about bright colored out pretty soon - esp. since I’ve kind of wiped them out of some of the bags I have - at least the ones that I’m accessing at the moment. In case you are wondering, I have made a couple of quilts with orange and pink together (or orange/pink/yellow). Here are a couple that I’ve done so far. I threw in the bargello because the end effect of using the warm pinks makes it look like I’m using an orange or orange sherbet color in it.

I think I’ve mentioned it before but when my sis first mentioned that someone had a wedding and they used orange and pink, I thought, “NO WAY, that would be so awful.” But in the end, it turned out totally gorgeous.

So I began using it - or at least not being against these two colors together.

So this quilt that I finished as a top is about 74”x92” long.

I’m sure this will not be the last quilt I made with an orange/pink or orange/pink/yellow combination as I really do like it.

I hope you do too!

Here’s the layout in case you want it. Those squares are 10” finished and the sashings are 3” finished and the 9 patches are also 3”. When I get the quilt finished, I’ll write up the pattern properly. I know. I’ve done checkerboards on point before and several with this sashing effect. However…maybe not exactly quite like this.

So there you are! Another top finished.

Have a great day wherever you are reading!

Thanks for coming along.
