Another Trip to Ukraine!

My husband is on his way to Ukraine with a big load - please pray for him - those of you who pray.

We are taking things to two different areas - Kharkov and Zaporozhe. However, he is taking the load into an area not too far from Kiev- where those groups will come and get the stuff.

So here’s how this last week went.

Shopping, shopping and more shopping!

This time we weren’t taking food - we ( ha ha - I mean my husband, Mike) are taking mostly cleaning and cosmetic and hygiene type items.

We are taking some to a group where we were prepared to help a man fill his van once he came to Poland but he was turned away at the Polish/Ukraine border! Yikes! Imagine driving about 12 hours and being told you can’t go any further and having to turn around go back, not being able to cross and get some much needed supplies. Anyway, Mike felt so bad, that he told me that he wanted some of this load to go to that guy.

So instead of giving you a day by day summary - but I did spend a lot of time this week shopping - I’ll just show various photos.

Just to summarize - I did order a lot via a site like Amazon, but then went shopping to local stores as well. Some things aren’t cheaper via the site I can order from - so it was off to find it in various stores. I didn’t want to clean out the stores of any one item, but if I had to, well, I did it anyway. :)

What you see here - diapers, laundry detergent, toilet paper, sanitary pads, dish detergent, baby wipes, and other similar types of things such as adult diapers, adult diaper inserts, shampoo, soap, and not as visible - toothbrushes and toothpaste.

I have bought close to 200 bags of diapers - mostly jumbo packs, many boxes of baby wipes, a seemingly unending supply of sanitary pads and so on. This load is specifically focusing on cleaning supplies - both body cleaning and household/building cleaning. :)

My husband is planning on driving all the way into the country this time and going on well beyond the border city where he has mostly met up with people from Ukraine who then take it on to the destination point.

Oh, there is one photo above which is of tourniquets. You can’t see them, but in the boxes, there are also some bandages.

So here we loaded up the trailer on Saturday so it would be ready to go on Monday!

We decided to make half the trailer with things to go to a city called Kharkov and the stuff to go to Zaporozhe - some of their needs were similar, but some overlapped.

No, it wasn’t filled to the top but it was filled enough. We didn’t put any food in here.

For those of you who have donated to this cause - thank you so much. I know the people who get the items are very thankful as well!

To say that I am a little uneasy about my husband’s trip this week would not be an understatement. At the same time I know that God controls our destinies. He will be teaching as I mentioned before - to his group of students that he’s been teaching now for a while - but since COVID - only on line. He will meet with them for a few days and then come back to Poland to cover his duties here and then continue to teach via Zoom.

Have a great day wherever you are reading. Thanks for coming along on this journey!
