Today is the big Quilt Give-away but I wanted to share with you the PREP for it!

First I had to make some the coupons which I then took to the social agency which is local here in Otwock - a week ago..

I had to go over to the social agency place and find the lady I’ve made contact with and thankfully she was willing to take the coupons and distribute for us.

The last time I had a quilt give away was November 2021, so I was glad she was still working there.

I also printed out some and gave them to a lady who works with a lot of Ukrainians and I asked her to give them away. I figure I have 150-160 quilts and I made about 130 coupons. Not all the coupons get returned as you can imagine. Even a give-away doesn’t get 100% return!

This gives us some leeway so that we can give away a few more should someone come with not enough coupons but they still need more.

I also picked up some trash bags that can be used to give people when they come to pick up a quilt. I hadn’t done that before, but as the weather gets worse and some people come on bikes - so it is good to have something to help protect the quilts as they make their way to a new home.

Then yesterday (Friday) we had to get to the church to set up the room. I had some helpers, so I didn’t feel like I did very much. Mostly just brought chairs in. I showed the ladies that I wanted to place the quilts on the chairs so that the back side could be seen because Polish people might prefer the back side. I’ve been careful to scour the fabric places in Poland to find the nicest backings so that the quilts would be totally reversible.

I even made a video for you but I am a terrible videographer. I really must do it more.

We will get there early tomorrow and put some in the back room before 9:30 as they can go back there as well. I wanted to have about 60 available for people to choose from at once.

The give-away starts at 9:30. I have advertised that it will be over at 13:00 or 1 pm. we will probably let only about 4 people in at once. Maybe 5.

So I’m as ready as I can be. We’ll see how it goes in the morning!
