Quilted Twins

A Word from Ukraine!

I was minding my own business, cleaning up some buttons and other things in my sewing room and I heard my phone “pink” a little ping. I couldn’t figure out which app was doing it.

Then I saw it was from Viber!

I got a photo of a quilt and a blanket that we had sent last year. Remember all those quilts?

Well, a guy send me a photo and a couple of nice notes. Now I can’t really see the actual quilt but this is apparently the blanket, the pillow and pillowcase.

Let me share the notes he sent. I thought you’d appreciate it.

“Becky, welcome! I just opened your parcel today. I saved its contents until the last moment))) Now it’s getting colder. And I won’t be heating the house any time soon. I will save wood. Thanks again!”

He signed his name. I told him thank you for the photos and asked him a couple of questions.

Becky, I received this package from my older brother’s wife. Previously, she worked as a translator at a Baptist church in Kharkov. Frankly, I received your quilt last year. But save it until the moment when I feel that the crisis is intensifying.

Yes, I’m in Ukraine now. My apartment in Kharkov was destroyed. I live in a dacha, in the suburbs of Kharkov. I was allowed to use it until the end of the war. sometimes I manage to go to Kyiv to earn money. I worked part-time as an electrician.

(A 'dacha’ is a small house or what we might think of as a cottage in the village area.)

I know it’s been a while since we’ve heard from people who received quilts!

And I know that a LOT of you participated and helped with this project.

I just wanted you to know that people are STILL getting them and using those quilts - and hopefully for a long time to come!

So here…I’m sharing with you. I don’t want to get all the glory when I was just part of the process!

Thanks again so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
